An open letter to the Islamic Conference summit from the Syrian Human Rights Organization – SWASIA

essage addressed to the summit of the Islamic cooperation

On the occasion of its twelfth session held  in Cairo,

this message is sent by the Syrian Organization for Human Rights (Swasia):

“ the Excellency of the honorable dignitaries, presidents, kings, foreign ministers, delegations of theMember States participating in this Summit.

Peace be upon you, God’s mercy and blessings;
Our Almighty God (Allah) says:

” Do your work and Allah will observe your work with His Messenger and the believers”

و قل اعملوا فسيرى الله عملكم و رسوله و المؤمنين

your summit is hold on the occasion of a special and exceptional circumstances, in which, the fivepermanent members of the UN Security Council are involved in the conspiracy against Syria, and they arecontrolling the fate of the world with the ruling regime in Damascus which is plagued with the blood of theSyrians to its full.

The task of strengthening cooperation and solidarity among Islamic countries and the purpose to mobilize resources, energies, and unite efforts to defend the interests and the welfare of peoples you are representing here in this conference, for sure, requires you to take serious attitude and courageous towards the UN Charter, which is revealed and become guilty of sharing the regime in Damascus its crime. This UN organization has proved itself failure in protecting peoples, races and religions rights based on pious, discrimination and racism, protecting only those who are categorized as fine blood people, and ignoring others who are categorized as cheap blood people. This discrimination has become clear for everybody in this world.

The fact which is in our opinion should be taking care of, and pay attention to, is the fact that the Arabs do not feel secured and safe under the umbrella of the UN Charter which is based on discrimination, occupation, and double standards, targeting the Islamic and the Arabic people.

the Syrian Organization for Human Rights (Swasia) assume your responsibility towards Syria, since you are representing the people of 57 states out of 199 state members of the United Nations, and we are asking you to demand a session by the General Assembly of the UN to review and amend item No.3 of the Article No./27/ by deleting the word “we are agreed” which refers to majority voting members. This word has become a source of “ disgusting matter”, for all the people, who are depressed and vulnerable all over the world.

The word “we are agreed” has become a stumbling block, which is preventing the international peace-keeping and security to prevail in the world. It is the phrase which allowed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia ” Mr.Lavrov” to block relief and assistance for more than six million Syrians across the country, when objected to the idea of safe corridors for delivering food and medicine for those who were in badneed of it, or even he objects the imposition of protection zones for women,  elderly and children under indiscriminate shelling and bombardment in the adjacent areas.

The international community represented by / 133 / state members has already adopted the Arabic resolution which contained the peaceful transition of power in Syria on the day of the resignation of the UN envoy, “Mr. Kofi Annan,” but the word “ we are agreed ” in Article / 23 / of the Charter has toppled theinternational will by filth napkin of the UN Security Council.

Then the international community adopted by the majority / 137 state member / the resolution which ordered the state members to condemn the murderous regime and held those who were involved in crimesagainst humanity accountable, and ordered to support the efforts of the Arab League to ensure a peacefultransition of power in Syria, but the word “ we are agreed ” in the Article / 23 / of the Charter of the United Nations had hit international will aside and blocked it from being implemented.

The General Assembly of the United Nations has agreed later by a majority of / 193 state members / on thedecision which invite president Bashar Assad to step down from power, and hand over his powers to hisdeputy, but the hateful word “ we are agreed ” prevented the realization of what it was agreed on by theinternational will.

Last month 52 State members demanded a decision to refer the Syrian file to the International CriminalCourt, but the international will failed again because of the word “ we are agreed ” of the  Article / 23 /. This situation has reached the climax of despair and anger among our people and cannot tolerate it any longer.

What is so funny , really, is the fact that referring President Assad to the international justice can be achieved only through the UN Security Council, which is today includes among its members criminal partners of President Assad in his crime which led so far, up today, for more than documented sixty-fivethousand dead Syrians, while the real murderer in Damascus enjoyed a safe heaven and found so many excuses to continue his crime by the available support of the Security Council decisions, and by the conspiracy of some of its permanent members against the Syrians.

Distinguished excellencies and members;

 The era of bipolarity has gone away, and will never to return back again, since the old Soviet Union has felled down without any regret, therefore, it is a wisdom to require deleting the word “we are agreed ” which came in the third paragraph of Article / 27 / of the UN Charter.

We strongly believe that Russia, which is today ruled by political mobs and political Mafia has no right toinherit the former Soviet Union, without the consent of the UN General Assembly on this kind of behavior in this succession process by Russia of the old Soviet Union regime.

We also believe, that the continuing injustice in this way and perpetuate this dire situation is underlying cause of all negative phenomena which makes the forces of evil in the world insist to address themanifestations and consequences without searching in its causes.

The world today is progressing steadily towards the restoration of democratic values, freedom anduniversal ideals of human rights, also towards imposing the valuable principles of human rights, which require you to bear the historic responsibility towards reforming and amending  Article /27/ of the UN General Assembly Charter, in changing the path of history after / 68 / year of the Declaration of the United Nations Charter regarding voting methods and to cancel the distinguished word “we are agreed ” forever out of it  .

Your people are counting on you a lot, and they are impatient to hear and see your deeds and not your words. God bless you and guide your efforts to your people expectations.

Damascus February, 2nd,2013

Signed by the Board of Directors of,

the Syrian Organization for Human Rights (Swasia)

    Anonymous,I fear you’ll have a hard time challenging yatihnng by calling yourself anonymous. If I may encourage you to use your first name so I could keep track of who’s who, that would be most helpful. I have no way of knowing which anonymous commentator you are otherwise.I wonder why you feel the need to psychoanalyze me. I’m quite sure there are many wonderful Arabs. I’ve never suggested that Arabs are all the same. In fact, I have several dear friends who are Arabs, Middle Eastern, Druze, etc. As for Jews being pro-Israel the bulk are, especially in Israel. That’s merely a reality largely ingrained in a quest for human survival. Would you expect an Israeli to want to see the destruction of their nation-state that they built from swamp and dirt?I find it questionable that you’re so offended I’m pointing to the inhumane treatment Jews suffered under Syria’s regime. Should I ignore that to appease anonymous commentators such as yourself? Should I deny my heritage to appease your distaste for Israel?Peace is mirage if you expect the bulk of Israeli Jewry to hide what they went through under Arab nationalist regimes. I haven’t an ounce of European blood. So when anti-Zionists and/or anti-Semities tell me to go back to Europe, I can only conclude that they don’t know the realities of what Mizrahi Jewry faced in their native lands or that they are hateful. I hope it’s the former as ignorance, through education, can be corrected. With best regards,Reut R. Cohen
